Developing a facilities management framework for the department of Basic Education looking to provide solutions for some of the local public schools
Finding solutions using technology to assist in managing facilities at schools and building a framework that can be applied to different sectors. This framework will look at different resources needed to run a school, from purchasing, distribution channels and maintenance. The beginning phases will involve identifying areas that can be provided with immediate improvement and the framework being built will assist in ensuring that the so
lutions can be applied to different areas. The initial technology solutions are Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain
to build strategies around managing the facilities. IoT can be used for predictive maintenance using real time diagnosis of the resources that schools require and use. Blockchain can be used to add value in the supply chain arena. However, this Meng is not limited to IoT and blockchain as more technology solutions will be explored to optimise the management of facilities for schools.
