This project aims to design a "lab-in-a-suitcase" water quality detector that can detect the presence and concentration of nitrates, in a water sample, using a smartphone camera, using the principles of spectrophotometry. The smartphone-based nitrate detector should be less expensive than traditional laboratory equipment or machines. Additionally, the system should be portable and usable beyond the confines of a laboratory.
